


Intensive Access Course.
The Intensive Access Course is designed specifically for international students who wish to study at a University in the UK. The course provides students with all the language and study skills required to deal with the demands of studying at degree level. The course is intensive and aims to extend and consolidate students’ language and skills to a level where they would qualify to study at university. The course consists of six modules which covers all areas to prepare students for university.
The course consists of 20 x 60 minute lessons per week over three 12 week semesters.
Course content
Module 1 – General English.
Consolidate and expand your language skills for everyday and social situations. Improve your reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.
Module 2 – Living and Studying in the U.K.
Learn more about British culture and way of life while obtaining all the essential information that you will need for living and studying in the U.K.
Module 3 – Academic Skills.
Learn essential academic terminology and study skills such as: note-taking, summarising, reading strategies, oral presentations, research techniques, essay and report-writing, referencing, layout conventions and exam preparation skills.
Module 4 – IELTS Preparation
The IELTS preparation module will help students to achieve the score required for entrance to British universities. Students will also receive help enrolling for the exam.
Module 5 – Information Technology
Develop useful computing skills essential for studying at university such as: word-processing, searching databases, preparing powerpoint presentations and presenting graphical and statistical data.
Module 6 – Specialised Subject Modules
Students also study modules specialising in the subjects of interest to them. This allows students to focus on any key areas of interest, e.g. media studies, theatre studies, economics, engineering, business, finance and marketing.
