Pathway to Employment Programme for International Nurses.
 
The North West Academy of English is offering international nurses the opportunity to participate in a programme that will allow them to gain employment in the U.K healthcare sector.
This programme is aimed at any specialist nurse who is interested in obtaining employment in the U.K. The programme comprises of a language development course and an Overseas Nursing Programme which will qualify students to register as nurses in the U.K.
The principal aims of this programme are:

- To help students develop their English language skills for everyday life and for working in the U.K healthcare sector.
- To prepare students for the IELTS examination.
- To guide and support nurses who received training outside the EEA through the various steps required in order for them to be eligible to work as nurses in the U.K.
- To assist participants in the programme to find suitable employment in the U.K healthcare sector.
DELIVERING THE PROGRAMME
The programme will be carried out under the auspices of the North West Academy and the Overseas Nursing Programme will be completed at Altnagelvin hospital.

Altnagelvin Hospital is one of the largest acute hospitals in Northern Ireland and has arguably the widest range of specialties of any hospital in Northern Ireland that continue to thrive and develop. The hospital has won several major awards and accreditations, including the Investors in People award, Charter Marks and UNICEF's 'Baby Friendly' award.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Nurses qualified as specialist nurses included on the governments skills shortage list are eligible to find work in the U.K. Nurses qualified in the following areas should apply:

- Mental health nursing
- Learning disability nursing
- Children’s nursing
- Audiology
- Sleep/respiratory physiology
- Neurophysiology
- Cardiac physiology
- Operating theatre nursing
- Clinical radiology
- Pathology
- Critical care
- High dependency units
- Orthopaedics
- Oncology
- Dentistry
• Applicants must be qualified nurses.
• Be registered as a nurse in their own country.
• Have at least 12 months (full time or the part-time equivalent) post-qualification experience in an area of practice related to the qualification.
• Preference will be given to applicants with IELTS 4.0 or above (or the equivalent standard of English).
• Have the determination to improve their English and work in some of Britain’s finest hospitals.
