Multimedia Summer and Winter Schools.
The North West Academy has teamed up with the state of the art multimedia Nerve centre to offer these exciting summer and winter school programmes. The courses combine English language study with practical multimedia workshops in film, music, animation and digital media; or interactive citizenship studies. The multimedia schools are ideal for students who want to improve their English and learn in an informative and stimulating way.
Students will complete the language element of the programme at the North West Academy and attend workshops in multimedia or interactive citizenship at the high-tech Nerve Centre.

The course covers all areas of general English concentrating on improving students’ skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking. The lessons allow students to revise and practise the language they may already know while developing vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and social and idiomatic English. This course is the perfect way for students to practise their English in a supportive and encouraging environment.
The Nerve Centre education provision includes:
· Hands-on workshops providing students with the opportunity to learn skills in digital video editing and camera techniques; animation and multimedia design; music composition and sound recording; through creating their own video productions, musical soundtracks, animated films and web pages.
· Film screenings, workshops and presentations.
· Practical demonstrations of how new digital technologies and interactive resources can stimulate creativity in the classroom.
· Training.
Multimedia Summer and Winter School Option 1 – English + Multimedia.
These workshops give students the opportunity to learn some basic multimedia techniques through demonstrations and hands-on experience. The aim of the workshops is to give participants the chance to engage with film, music, animation and computers in a fun and informative way.
Multimedia Summer and Winter School Option 2 – English + Interactive Citizenship Studies.
These workshops allow students to learn about citizenship issues through an interactive and stimulating learning experience. The workshops promote creative collaboration and fusion between students from different cultural backgrounds. This provides an outlet for many young people to work together and to learn about cultural diversity in a practical, innovative and truly imaginative way.
“Creativity opens new pathways to learning for every child. It provides new languages, inspires new ideas, instils confidence and stimulates the imagination. New moving image technologies now provide us with an unprecedented opportunity to release the creative energies and critical talents of our young people, in unique and distinctive ways.”
